12 of 13 people found the following review helpful Makes good curls, but really bad directions come with it, September 7, 2009 Marie44 "marie44" - See all my reviews This is easy to use once you learn how, and it doesn't take long to learn. Forget about the pitiful directions that come with it; they are useless. Go online and find a how-to video (there are dozens that I saw) and practice for a bit. If you want perfect spirals, make sure your hair is between the grooves. I'm not that particular about it and still get really good spiral curls. I like it to look a little messy anyway, and once you step out the door you know it will get messed up some no matter how careful you are at home. This Conair spiral curler gave me just the look I wanted, but they really need to work on those directions they include with it! Lau (Irvine, CA) - See all my reviews    I have a lot of thick, long, hair which does not like to stay curled. This has been the first inexpensive curling iron to work on my hair. It gives me neat sprial curls from top to bottom. I've read some of the other comments regarding a dent that the iron can leave...I've never gotten the dent...maybe its the way they position the iron. I also recommend using Salon Grafix's freezing hairspray if you have difficulty getting your hair to hold a curl. This has been the only hairspray that holds my hair. The iron heats up quick, it also has the turbo heat option which allows it to heat up in a minute. I would recommend this iron for anyone! Sanchez (NY USA) - See all my reviews    I bought this just a couple days ago and am very pleased with it already. It gives you perfect curls and I was about to give up on curling irons altogether before I got this one, since all others failed to curl my hard-to-style hair. The curls actually stayed in too and the turbo feature works well if you want nice curls in only 20 min. I also disagree with the two other reviews, I'm right handed and I found no trouble in getting my hair between the grooves and I had no dents after styling my hair. It is also possible to get the perfect curls without any help! I highly reccomend this product and it is inexpensive compared to some of my friends 60$ curling irons that don't even work as well.
